Born in Jackson, Mississippi, raised in midtown Kansas City MO, Mia is the only child born to James and Val Jean Easterling. Raised by her grandparents, William and Callie Robinson, after the fatal automotive accident of her mother at the age of 15, she excelled in school, graduating with honors from Bishop Hogan High School. She continued her study of Communications/Public Relations at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View TX, and the University of Missouri-Columbia and Kansas City campuses. 

 

Mia is the proud wife to Derrell Ramsey of 20 years and mother of their 2 girls, Taylor, 17 and Sydney, 10.   She is the Minister of Music and received her call to Minister the Gospel, as well as the Administrative Assistant, Marketing Director and a teacher at Kingdom Word Ministries, under the leadership of Bishop Eric D. and Pastor Regina Morrison.

 

Founder and lead singer of the Christian Soul band, Soul Serenade, Mia has been blessed to share the stage with great performers, such as comedian Jonathan Slocumb, Gospel greats J. Moss, J.J. Hairston, Smokie Norful;  Jazz artists, Kirk Whalum, Julian Vaughn and Poet legends, Sonia Sanchez and Nikki Giovanni along with many others. Mia has also stretched her entrepreneurial stakes by starting JWEAR, a Christian apparel company as well as founding S.O.S. (Sisters of Substance Youth Development Organization). She has hosted the KGGN 890am morning talk show, Real Talk with Mia Ramsey and countless other events. She is always preparing for the next God-venture which now include Christian Comedy, completing her 3rd gospel CD, and speaking across the country.  With God, family, friends and future ahead, Mia is prepared to face the challenge by encouraging others to do the same.
